Rock for Recovery 2017

September is recognized as National Recovery Month and raises awareness and understanding of substance use disorders and celebrates that recovery is possible!  LRADAC celebrates National Recovery Month with the annual Rock for Recovery campaign and events.  Rock for Recovery brings our community together to share information about prevention and treatment programs at LRADAC and show how recovery strengthens our families and communities.  Our work to help individuals and families recover is challenging.  While alcohol remains as the most common reason a person chooses to seek treatment, other substances such as marijuana and opioids and their related use disorders are on the rise throughout many communities including our own.

To meet the growing demand for treatment, we need the community’s support.  This September, rocking chairs will be found at key events and locations throughout our community where volunteers will rock, share information about LRADAC, and accept donations to the LRADAC Foundation’s Recovery Scholarship Fund.  At LRADAC, no one is turned away from services because of an inability to pay.  Thankfully, because of resources like the donors to our scholarship fund, individuals and families seeking an opportunity to turn their lives around can apply for financial assistance.

There are many ways to show your support for Rock for Recovery: Cheer, Rock, and/or Give.  We will kick off Rock for Recovery on August 30th by cheering on the Columbia Fireflies as they take on the Asheville Tourists.  Buy your tickets through the LRADAC Foundation and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Recovery Scholarship Fund.  Volunteers are also invited to rock at one of our rocking stations while telling others about LRADAC and accepting donations.  Certainly, the most directly impactful way to support our clients and their families in treatment is to make a monetary donation to the LRADAC Foundation.  One hundred percent of your donation will go to support the cost of services for an individual or entire family in need of treatment, recovery, and healing.  To purchase tickets to the Fireflies game, sign up to rock, or make a donation, visit https://lradac.org/foundation/r4r17/.

LRADAC is the designated alcohol abuse and drug abuse authority for Lexington and Richland Counties of South Carolina. The public, not-for-profit agency offers a wide array of prevention, intervention and treatment programs in locations convenient to residents of both counties. The agency has a budget of approximately $10 million and serves more than 5,000 clients per year.
