January 31, 2023

Lexington, SC – LRADAC’s prevention department and the Lexington One Community Coalition (LOCC)—will present a Youth Leadership Summit Feb. 6-7 for all middle and high school students active in LOCC clubs in Lexington School District One. LOCC Clubs offer middle and high school students an opportunity to learn substance resistance skills and receive prevention education to live a substance-free life. The upcoming Youth Leadership Summit will focus on building leadership skills and creating peer advocates who will return to schools with action plans about effective messaging and sharing activities with other students in schools and the community about living a substance-free life.

“We must take the time to equip our young people with leadership and resiliency skills as they grow into our future leaders,” said Ashley Bodiford, LRADAC’s Prevention Director. “The Youth Leadership Summit is an opportunity to empower young people to change the norm around youth substance use, be proud of their decisions to remain abstinent, and encourage others to live healthy lives.”

Middle and high school students in Lexington One interested in joining a LOCC Club should contact their school advisors or guidance counselor.
