LRADAC, along with the Richland County Knowledge is Power Community Coalition, invites the public to Rock the Block and help local kids and families celebrate the first day of summer break on Saturday, June 1st, from noon- to 4 p.m., at Fairlawn Community Center, 9128 Wilson Blvd.
Grateful Greens Farm, the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department, and other Richland County Knowledge is Power Community Coalition members will offer games, food, a bouncy house, and health and safety resources. LRADAC’s Prevention team will also be on hand with special handouts and educational materials on substance misuse and how to avoid tobacco, drugs, and alcohol in these formative years.
“Because summertime is when many kids first experiment with substances, we wanted to reach them at this critical point with education and prevention materials offered up in a non-threatening and open manner,” said Ashley Bodiford, LRADAC’s Prevention Director. “With Rock the Block, we are thrilled to present this information in a fun, friendly atmosphere and meet kids and families where they are.”
The Rock the Block event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact LRADAC’s Prevention team at 803-726-9300.
