LRADAC to Rock for Recovery the First Week of September

August 30, 2016

R4R logoColumbia, SC – LRADAC will hold the second annual Rock for Recovery events in September in honor of National Recovery Month.  Rock for Recovery celebrates that recovery from substance use disorders is possible and raises support for individuals and families in treatment through the LRADAC Foundation.

The Foundation’s Recovery Scholarship Fund provides financial support to individuals and families who cannot afford the cost of treatment services.  Allison Atkins, Director of the LRADAC Foundation, said “Cost is a huge barrier to a person seeking treatment, but we know that by helping one person find recovery, we are helping the entire family heal.”

Volunteers will be in rocking chairs, handing out information to pedestrians, and accepting cash donations at the following events:

  • September 3rd: Soda City Farmers Market
  • September 4th: Columbia Fireflies game. The LRADAC Foundation is selling tickets to the game.  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the LRADAC Foundation.  Click here to purchase tickets.
  • September 6th – 9th: Rocking along Main Street from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

To complement the events, volunteers will also have personal fundraising pages allowing donors to sponsor a volunteer’s Rock for Recovery.  Learn more or donate at lradac.org/foundation.
